All about opinions...
Personally for me, all things considered, salary money spent etc, added to the dross served up = worst manager in my lifetime.
He was woeful, and his final year at City wasn’t anything to write home about either, he gave up there as well.
Also, there’s a few more stories to come out that’ll make uncle Avram seem like a dynamic workaholic.
All about opinions though.

Russ..good post...
Pellegrini WAS a successful manager...
In early times he built teams...latest technologies ...tactics...
But was outdated and wrong man for our rag bag of a squad...
Never moved on from first season...
Stuck In the past tactically...
Obdtinate...couldn't adapt...no links to players...
Needed superstars for his style to ducceed...
Moyes more pragmatic...hope he succeeds...

You can't have a career in management like he has and be a bad manager. Yes, things went wrong at West Ham, he lost his way and lost the players and couldn't come up with the methods to turn it around. My comment about him being aloof may be one of those factors as I think the lack of personal relationship made some players not care for him and dropped their work rate.

He has had a very successful career managing at the top level and you don't do that by being a bad manager.

I know you were the one who didn't want him. You have said it enough on here. Yes, things went wrong, but you can't say he is a bad manager. That's just ridiculous. He had successful spells at River Plate, Villareal, Malaga, Man City. But whatever, I don't care to get into an argument about if he has ever been a good manager or not. My opinion is based on his record. But he's gone now so it's irellavent.

A few key changes in yesterdays performance was that although we went 4-5-1 we had our attacking midfielders within touching distance of Haller - something that was sorely missing under MP. We also attacked with pace instead of minging around in midfield with a dozen or so square and backward passes before losing the ball. And also we pressed higher up AS A UNIT, this was instrumental in us actually winning the ball back in an attacking position rather than with a goal kick (or a kick-off after conceding!). All in all, quite encouraging now let's see how we move on from here. COYI

What an indictment of the club that the leading scorer for the last decade is Mark Noble with 44 goals. Just shows what lousy strikers we've had in that time.

it's concerning that this squad can switch on & switch off their effort/intensity levels as they choose, and especially when moyes said he'd only had a day working with them before the match. it will be interesting to see if they look as interested on sunday

Good win but puts into perspective what stupid lazy cunts players can be. You’ll never convince me they need to be instructed to put in a performance like that, it should be the bare minimum and well within their mentality/mindset.

Wouldnt say we played 4-5-1 yesterday, think Anderson was playing as close to Haller as possible in the role that Antonio had been filling previously.

What i did very much enjoy seeing was haller actually getting on the ball down the flanks and being physical, few times he just brushed off a centreback and charged towards the box, final ball lacking at times but looked like he picked a beautiful pass to Fornals on one of them only for a heroic last ditch effort from the defender to get in the way.

It’s all about opinions I suppose Russ, but how you can come to the conclusion that MP isn’t a bad manager has me scratching my bonce.

Right now I would take a point if I am being honest. But, as you say, if we go there and match them up for commitment and physicality then our quality may just be enough for the win.

Massive test of Moyes and the players.

Sheffield United will be a good test.

We have better quality than them so will be interesting if we match their work ethic.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - Official Match Thread - A Ratched
The obvious positives were the 3 points with Haller and Anderson scoring.

But also at the end seeing Moyes with the players it is pretty obvious that he has gone in their and not only laid down some ground rules about work ethic and professionalism, he has also put an arm round them. I don't think MP is a bad manager but one of my concerns with him was that some players may find him aloof. At least you know Moyes will have a relationship with the players.

Generally it was a good performance. But I am not going to get excited because we beat a poor Bournemouth B team. They were pretty woeful. But you can only beat who is in front of you. But the worked hard on and off the ball. Good to see players putting a shift in. Good to see Moyes use Masuaku further up the pitch where he has the ability to hurt teams rather than cause a defensive cock up.

One negative was he went back to 4-5-1 which I just don't agree with and generally hasn't worked for us. But that was obviously because he doesn't have Antonio. I expect that to change when he is back.

The first result of this decade is better than any in the last. That was our best league win in 12 years!

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - Official Match Thread - A Ratched
I think we played some lovely stuff under Pellegrini (Norwich at home this season was as complete a performance as I have seen in years) and I can easily see why he bought the players he bought.

It's easy in retrospect to manage a team and say 'Anderson is a lazy cunt' but he's also capable of the sublime. It's getting the best out of players who are suffering a crisis of confidence that is the proper job of a manager and once they stop believing in him, he's fucked, no matter who he is.

Moyes has taken over a mainly talented bunch of players (but very short in certain areas) and said simply 'run you cunts if you want to play in the first eleven'.

Let's not say he's the shittiest manager ever OR that he's the best. Let's just hope that he can build on this win and the players can once again play with a bit of flair.

All in all not a bad start to a new decade.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - Official Match Thread - A Ratched
haven't been a fan of moyes, but i wouldn't have put a loss on him after 48 hours with the squad so i'd struggle to praise him with the win. thought the main difference was that instead of trying to play our holistic total football we singled out their biggest weakness (left back) and hit it over and over.

i thought it was as much about taking off the shackles of pellegrini's rigid mechanical system as implementing something new.

still, the ginger lord of the undead couldn't have got off to a better start and he'd be an idiot not to build off of one of our best performances of the season, if against by far the worst opposition we've faced.

you have to ask where those players have been, but that just comes with the modern game. one of the worst feelings about being sacked is you know full well your former players will play the game of their lives a week later.

What a difference putting a little bit of fucking effort makes.

Glad Pellegrini went, still not happy its moyes taken over

But it proved it's the players fucking lazy attitude over the past few months which was a huge part of the problem, not just aufrey
